In south Sioux Falls sits a grand custom-built Amdahl Construction Co. home. Fabulous curb appeal is an understatement at this four-bedroom transitional-style home with three full baths and two half baths, all adding up to roughly 4,500 square feet of living space. Situated on a large lot with a pond, the boomerang-shaped roofline of this masterpiece welcomes you with intricate details.
The welcoming exterior is comprised of white pillars set apart from white stucco, siding and the contrasting black on window casings. Grey, earthy dry stack stone accents flow effortlessly with the professionalism in the landscaping of the yard. A grand curved walkway eagerly ushers guests to the inviting front porch.
The front door is surrounded by large vertical, four-pane windows on either side. A transom window spans the width, bringing your eye to the soaring great room upon entering. With wood beams, the ceiling appears mid-century and almost castle-like. Beautiful stone and a custom wood mantle adorn a stunning floor-to-ceiling fireplace. This room is lit by a dainty, yet powerful, candelabra chandelier at night; during the day, the entire room is lit by the four, multiple pane floor-to-ceiling windows. Engineered white oak flooring can be found throughout the main floor, decorated with white six-inch woodwork and soaring eight-foot tall doorways.
Beams decorate the ceiling, leading you into the kitchen and dining area. In the kitchen, custom white cabinets boast glass top accent doors and crown molding. A custom stained wooden range hood provides the perfect connection to the natural wood of the ceiling beams. Running the perimeter of the kitchen, matte subway tile backsplash coordinates easily with grey quartz countertops. On the contrary, the large island with seating for four is topped with a white quartz stone countertop, with stained ash grey cabinets underneath. The undermount, produce sink is conveniently located across from a high-performance gas range.
The dining area, which is open to the kitchen, boasts a built-in beverage bar with glass pane cabinets for storing glasses and serveware. Tucked into the wall, the white quartz countertop pairs subtly with stained custom cabinetry. A three-panel patio door to the right leads you to the maintenance-free deck that spans a majority of the length of the home. Stairs lead you to the open backyard and semi-private pond.
Adjacent to the kitchen and dining area is a massive walk-in open pantry. Floor-to-ceiling white custom cabinets and shelving offer convenient storage solutions that flow gently into the mudroom with access to the garage. On top of the decorative ceramic tile flooring, custom lockers ensure there won’t be any unnecessary clutter in the main living space of the home. A half bath sits conveniently in between this space and the study room.
The home’s beautiful study area is set up for both work and relaxation. The calming white of the walls is set apart by the painted teal shiplap wall that serves as the primary accent of the room, falling just short of the wall lined with windows overlooking the spacious backyard. Masterfully created, the room is seemingly split in two by steps leading to the work area that overlooks the open den area, set apart with a decorative railing and iron spindles.
In a secluded area off the main living area is the master retreat. Immediately your eyes are drawn to a beautiful decorative wall covering. The white and silver tree design is both stylish and comforting. Crown molding sits where the walls and ceiling meet, while white oak flooring sprawls underneath. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the back pond with electronic blinds installed for those bright and sunny days. The walk-in closet is as grand as the home in which it was designed for. It features dark stained custom wood drawers, shelves, and even a picture window complete with cozy window seat.
The large master bath is just beyond the walk-in closet with a spacious soaker tub. Black fixtures seemingly float on the wall next to the tub. The dual vanity sink, white quartz countertops and black faucets stylishly blend with the grey and white heated ceramic tile flooring. The custom tile-and-glass walk-in shower includes a bench and is naturally lit with a pair of transom windows on the wall above.
Outside the master is a half bath, with two of the walls decorated with a rich brown wall covering featuring dainty tree white accents that resemble whispering willows. The pedestal sink and brushed nickel fixtures make this small space cozy and warm. The laundry area is across from the half bath and comes with plenty of white storage cabinets and a large, bright window with a beautifully angled dark grey tile floor.
Following the open staircase to the lower level, on a large gingham design of white and grey carpet, the family room opens up before your eyes. Similar to the dining room, a three-panel sliding glass door is a part of the family room, naturally leading guests to the backyard patio. A game of shuffleboard may be in the works in front of the engineered barnwood shiplap wall. This space has been created for guests to enjoy a warm cup of coffee or quench any card playing thirst that might build. The gray painted cabinets are accented by floating wooden shelves, and a round table with bronze star-shaped chandelier.
Three guest bedrooms are located in this spacious lower level, all with walk-in closets. Ceiling fans and bright tall windows are made possible by the nine-foot ceilings located in the lower level space. One bedroom in particular stands out with its adorable yellow ceiling and light blue walls, complete with matching twin beds. To accompany those young at heart is a full guest bath complete with a white step stool, tilted mirrors, and a convenient shelf under the dual undermount sink vanity. White shiplap serves as a backsplash, providing contrast to bright towels and décor.
For those guests that need their own space, the second bath in the lower level features a beautiful floating, powder blue vanity. The backsplash is comprised of decorative tile featuring the colors found in the vanity and rich black quartz countertops. A tile floor appears like wood on the floor and, with the oval mirrors, this bath is sure to comfort any guest.
Venturing to the backyard of this home you experience beautiful landscaping, and an oversized pond with a gently sloping yard from the back patio. From the deck to the patio and beyond, the natural rock wall supports the natural curvature of the earth and accents the three peaks of this grand and elegant home. Not surprisingly, the outside features similar, uniquely pleasant details to those found within this gorgeous Amdahl Construction home. Thoughtfulness and attention to detail was put into this transitional-style home, ensuring homeowners will love it for years to come.
